Septarian Concretion Geode

This beautiful geode is formed from the concentration of yellow calcite and brown aragonite in a gray limestone matrix. The more angular cracks and cavity separations are called "septaria" giving the geode its unique name Septarian Concretion. This specimen was collected in southern Utah. The front of this piece has been cut and polished to a high gloss finish. The back and sides have been left in their natural state. Yellow calcite crystals in the center of the geode make a strikingly beautiful contrast to the gray matrix rock.

Approx. 6.5" L x 3" W x 5.75" H
