Ammolite Gem Ammonite Fossil

A true geologic rarity. This gorgeous piece of Ammolite is a shell fragment from an approximately 70 million year old Ammonite! When tilted in the light, a rainbow of colors appears including greens, yellows, reds, oranges, and even some blues (the most rare of colors).

The gem quality of this iridescent Ammonite shell has earned its own gemstone classification as Ammolite. This incredible natural occurrence is a a result of mineralization during the fossilization process. Found in Alberta, Canada, this exceptional quality specimen sometimes referred to as "Dragonskin" has been lightly polished and displays beautifully as is. The back of the stone is flat with smooth sides that could also be used in jewelry making.

Approx. 2" H x 1.75" W x .25" Deep
