Amber Necklace with Insect

For all you Jurassic Park lovers out there, this beautiful fossilized amber pendant has an ant trapped inside! This piece was found near Chiapas, Mexico and is approximately 25 million years old! Not quite old enough to clone a dinosaur, but one can dream.

Amber is the fossilized tree resin or sap which has been exuded from a tree for defensive purposes or as a healing mechanism. Insects on the tree are attracted by the sticky resin and become encapsulated in geologic time. This stone necklace has a natural free-form shape that has been lightly polished. A sterling silver bail would make this piece perfect for a necklace.

Approx: 1.5" L x 0.9"W x 0.25"H
