Layer upon layer of crystals on this gorgeous specimen from the El Hammam region of Morocco. This is a perfect example of secondary and tertiary mineralization on top of a crystal. When you turn the crystal to the side, you can see the layer cake of deposition. Fluorite grew first and was later coated with a secondary layer of quartz crystals which grew on top. Pyrite was the tertiary coating, providing a beautiful dusting of brassy sparkle! This piece even has some chalcopyrite to boot! You can get lost looking at all the layers and colors on this incredible specimen.
