A rock with a surprise fossil inside! This Dactylioceras Ammonite lived during the Jurassic Period approx. 180 million years ago! The fossil formed in mud and clay that hardened around the fossil creating a concretion. When cracked open, you have the fossil inside along with a cast or imprint of the original shell shape. This fossil was found near the Town of Whitby, Yorkshire, England.
