A truly fabulous amethyst and calcite geode from Uruguay. This stunning piece has vibrant purple amethyst crystals, accented by a large white calcite rhombohedron complete with a rainbow light inclusion. Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz which forms within volcanic deposits, specifically within basalt pockets. While amethyst geodes from this location are not uncommon, the large natural calcite crystal secondary mineralization makes this a very unique piece.
