Extra Large Dactylioceras Ammonite Fossil Plate

A stunning fossil plate packed with ammonite fossils. This extra large ammonite fossil comes from the Holzmaden Shale formation in Germany. Ammonites are an extinct group of sea creatures which thrived during the Jurassic Period approximately 180 million years ago. This plate contains hundreds of Dactylioceras ammonites. The ammonites have mineralized with a pyrite coating giving it a rich brass color which contrasts beautifully against the deep shale background.
