Pyritized Dactylioceras Ammonite Fossil Plate

An incredibly detailed display piece of Holzmaden Shale prominently featuring a single large Pyritized Dactylioceras Ammonite shell fossil from Germany.

Ammonites are an extinct group of sea creatures which thrived during the Jurassic Period approximately 180 million years ago. The Ammonite has naturally mineralized with a beautiful pyrite coating giving it a rich brass color which contrasts nicely against the dark shale background.

Approx. 10" L x 8.25" H x .5" D

Need a display stand?

This piece comes with a pre-drilled hole and mount on the back of the plate for wall-mounting. Please note: If you choose to mount this piece on a wall to drill into a stud or stable part of your wall to support the weight of the fossil!

If you would like a clear acrylic stand to display your specimen horizontally with a slight tilt forward on a desk or shelf, we recommend adding Stand C2 to your cart.
