A beautifully detailed display piece of Holzmaden Shale, prominently featuring a single large Pyritized Dactylioceras Ammonite shell fossil from Germany.
Ammonites are an extinct group of sea creatures which thrived during the Jurassic Period approximately 180 million years ago. The Ammonite has naturally mineralized with a beautiful pyrite coating giving it a rich brass color which contrasts nicely against the dark shale background.
