A lovely pinkish purple Lepidolite specimen from the Brown Derby Mine, near Gunnison, Colorado. Lepidolite is a lithium-bearing mica often found associated with Quartz and Tourmaline. This important pegmatite mineral has a shiny metallic luster when tilted in the light. The unique shape is due to the mica forming in thin sheets often referred to as "books" when stacked together in this way.
