This beautiful coral-like cluster of Barite crystals comes from the Lubin Mining District in Poland. The cut and polished side allows you to observe the beautiful growth structure of this cream and tan colored Barite crystal cluster. The reverse side features the raw and natural crystal blades of Barite, including a lovely coating of Pyrite crystals on top.
Crystals from this locality are inter-grown stalactites / rosettes of bladed Barite. They also fluoresce under UV and phosphoresce creating a gorgeous green glow! The Lubin Mining District is a famous mining area in Poland, known for extensive Copper and Silver deposits. Most of the minerals occur in veins along fault lines and sometimes within individual cavities that can range in size from a foot to large enough for you to walk through.
This specimen has been cut and polished on one side, with the reverse side left in the raw and natural state. A perfect example of the Barite crystal formation on the exterior and a cross-section of the interior of the crystals.
