A colorful window into geologic time, this Bolaspidella housensis trilobite fossil is over 500 million years old! Discovered in the Wheeler Shale of Millard County, Utah this vibrantly colored trilobite was preserved in incredible detail.
Despite its apparent size, this is actually a large example for this species of trilobite. Expertly prepared, the red-orange trilobite was found in a lovely bi-color rock matrix of pinkish reds and earth tones. The color variation in the host rock represents mineralization that occurred on two sides of a natural rock fracture that was re-healed over the last 500+ million years.
