Native Copper in Selenite - Arizona
A rarity in the mineral world, bright orange Native Copper crystals INSIDE Selenite! This amazing specimen was collected between 1966 and 1967 at the Mission Mine in Pima County, Arizona.
A geologist working at the mine located this unusual deposit and was amazed by the fine crystalline Copper which formed within the white Selenite crystals. Unfortunately, the mine boss realized the miners were distracted by this find and were busy extracting specimens for their collections. The boss subsequently ordered this area of the mine to be destroyed.
Any specimens on the market come from old stock collections which are slowly being released.
This specimen comes pre-mounted on a 1.5" x 1.5" clear acrylic display stand.
