A double terminated Smoky Quartz crystal, Unearthed by yours truly! Most Quartz crystals grow attached to a host rock, ending their growth or “terminating” into a single point. But this is a special type of crystal formation called a Double Terminated, or DT crystal.
In this case, the crystal was formed either free-floating in the pocket (often in a clay/fluid suspension), or attached lightly to another crystal allowing it to form points on both ends.
