Volcanic Bomb with Garnet and Olivine
From deep within the Earth to flying through the air! This “Volcanic Bomb” literally flew through the air after getting blasted from a volcano! What makes these stones so special are the crystals found inside.
The green Olivine (gem name Peridot) crystals form at some of the hottest temperatures inside our Earth. During explosive volcanic eruptions, this material sometimes gets ejected from the volcano.
Even more unique to this specimen, red Garnet crystals which form at great depths alongside the Olivine were erupted in the mix!
As this material flys through the air, it twists and cools creating some amazing laminations. Once found, these rocks are cut in half to display the incredible crystals inside.
Discovered in the Llémena Valley, Girona Province, Catalonia, N.E. Spain.
