Rare Extra Large Native Copper from Eagle Harbor

This jaw-dropping specimen of Native Copper comes from the Gull Rock Fissure, Eagle Harbor, Keweenaw County, Michigan. This exquisite copper sky-scraper features spinel law crystal twins both front and back. Besides the incredible size and structure, the story behind this piece is also remarkable. While much of the Upper Peninsula in Michigan has been mined for decades, this stunner was actually discovered WITHIN Lake Superior! Scuba divers discovered what is now known as the Gull Rock Fissure in Eagle Harbor, Michigan. After several attempts, the Fissure was able to be excavated, with rare and incredible formed Native Copper crystals hiding inside.

Copper is one of the few elements on our periodic table to crystallize in its native form, and this is an exceptional example of the large crystal size and stunning shapes Copper can form in.

This specimen comes on an elegant, custom hand-carved acrylic base with engraved location information.

Specimen Dimensions Approx. 7.25" H x 3.25" W x 2" Deep
Total Dimensions with Stand Approx. 8.25" H x 4" W x 3" Deep
