A truly spectacular combination of minerals and fossils, this awesome Fossilized Coral pair came from the Withlacoochee River area in Florida.
The impressive size and quality of this fossil pair is truly outstanding. Typically, with fossils from this locale, sections of the coral fracture or break away during the cutting and polishing process, making extra large pairs of this quality truly rare.
Sparkling clear Quartz crystal caves can be seen throughout this dazzling specimen, which also boasts exceptional structural detail of the ancient coral on the exterior.
Dated at approximately 20 to 40 million years old, this variety of coral lived during the Eocene to Miocene Period. Empty voids within the coral were naturally replaced with silica-rich mineralization in the form of Quartz crystals and Chalcedony. Fossilized coral once a part of the ancient coastline of Florida is now discovered inland near the Withlacoochee River. The fossil was cut and polished down the center, with the exterior left in its raw and natural state to show off the natural growth structure of the coral.
Dimensions of Each Single Side: Approx. 6.75" H x 6.25" W x 2" Deep
