Chalcocite and Malachite replaced the Petrified Wood, creating dark contrasts and bright greens in the wood and surrounding Sandstone. This beautiful specimen came from the Nacimiento Mine in New Mexico. The Petrified Wood at this location has been dated to Triassic Age, approximately 225 million years old!
