This classic mineral combination of clear Calcite with Marcasite inclusions comes from the famous Linwood Mine in Scott County, Iowa. The Linwood Mine started as a limestone quarry back in the late 1800's and features some of the highest purity limestone in the country.
The Calcite crystals on this specimen have a lovely scalenohedral shape and feature crisp edges and terminations. Often seen intermixed or included inside the Calcite are glittery Marcasite crystals.
