This bold and brass colored Ammonite fossil pair from Morocco has been naturally replaced by the mineral Pyrite! The golden coloration of the Pyrite and darker tones of the exterior shale matrix contrast perfectly with white Calcite present in some of the Ammonite growth chambers.
Ammonites are an extinct group of sea creatures which thrived during the Jurassic Period approximately 180 million years ago. This large Ammonite shell has been cut in half and lightly polished to display the excellent detail and mineralization inside.
