Pyrite Cube in Matrix
- Description
A geometric wonder this Pyrite cube in matrix comes from Navajun, Spain. This Pyrite specimen is completely natural, it has not been cut or polished. The incredible cubic shape comes as a result of the Pyrite's chemistry and isometric crystal structure.
On an atomic level, the structure forms as a cube and continues to exhibit this shape as it grows. The limestone (marl) formation that these cubes form in perfectly preserves the crystals. Often times the softer surrounding host rock is gently chipped away to reveal the full cubic shape.
A miniature Pyrite crystal even started to form on one side of the crystal faces!
